Jazz Fest 2009

I am getting worse at posting, but we are having a blast in New Orleans this year. We started out with a camping trip for 2 days in Zion National park in Utah, then on to Vegas for Paul McCartney. What an Icon! Then we flew to New Orleans where we caught up with Mike Stranahan from Aspen. We will stay a total of 7 days, but today was the last day of Jazz Fest for us. We saw some incredible music...the highlights for me were Pete Seeger, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Earth, Wind and Fire. Sophia really had fun. She knows no strangers!

We've had two snows at the house so far...although there is no snow on the ground right now. We definitely have the snow bug going though. Sophia is really excited about snow this year. I bought her some used strap on skis today and as you can see, she loves them!

Oops! It didn't take 2 of the Halloween photos. Here they are!

Happy Halloween! Sophia had a good time this year. She wasn't intimidated by any costumes. It was all a little puzzling to her. She wanted the candy, but didn't want to put it in her bucket. She finally had too when her hands were too full. The funniest part was when she say a kid dressed like Elmo. She went running after him calling "Elmo! Elmo!"

I can't believe the summer is gone. It is supposed to snow this weekend here in Utah! John is still busy in Colorado, trying to finish up his business and take care of the rentals before coming back to Utah. Sophia and I are holding down the fort here. We can't wait to all be together. It has been a very long summer with lots of travel to Colorado. Here are a couple more recent pics of Sophia.

I just can't seem to blog more than once a month! Sophia and I went to Colorado for the 4th of July to visit John. It is so beautiful there. We had a great time. We did the parade in town, of course, but also did a little hiking. She can tolerate about 1 hour in the pack. She likes to get out and walk a little too. I am surprised at how far she can walk....she does get distracted pretty easily though. We also did alot of visiting with friends there. Sophia has several young kids to play with regularly there so she really enjoys going to Crested Butte. We are home for a short 2 and 1/2 weeks, then we go back for 12 days. We are having a busy summer. Hope everyone else is having a great summer too!

I know it has been a while since I posted, but it has been so busy. John is in Colorado now, so Sophia and I are on our own. We have been on one visit to Colorado and plan on going for 2 weeks over the 4th of July. We look forward to escaping the heat. These pictures were taken by a friend of mine in late May.
